Wisconsin Tourism Relief to Accelerate Vitality and Economic Lift (TRAVEL) stimulus grant program

The application period is now closed and awards for the TRAVEL grants have been announced. There will be no new application period for this funding. The goal of the Wisconsin TRAVEL Stimulus Grant Program is to aid the recovery for local entities that promote tourism, which is one of Wisconsin’s largest industries and was hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Additional Federal Grant Opportunities Related to COVID-19

Several additional grant opportunities in support of the tourism industry were recently announced:

COVID-19 We're All in For Restaurant Grants:

  • This grant period has closed.
  • This $45 million grant program was targeted at restaurants and other targeted small businesses throughout Wisconsin that, as gathering places, have been challenged from the beginning of the pandemic, and are incredibly important employers and community members.

COVID-19 Lodging Property Grant Program:

  • This grant application period has closed.
  • This $20 million grant programs supported Wisconsin hotel and lodging facility owners whose businesses have been affected by COVID-19.

COVID-19 Movie Theater Grant Program:

  • This grant application period has closed.
  • This $10 million grant program aided Wisconsin movie theater owners and operators whose operations have been negatively affected by COVID-19. Award details available here.

COVID-19 Lodging Property Grant Program: Grants totaling up to $20 million available.

  • This grant application period has closed.
  • This $15 million grant program assisted Wisconsin’s live music and entertainment venues and operators whose operations have been negatively affected by COVID-19.

COVID-19 Live Music and Entertainment Venue Grant Program:

  • This grant application period has closed.

COVID-19 We’re All In Small Business Grants:

  • This grant application period has closed.
  • This $50 million grant program helped small businesses get back on their feet as they re-emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic and prioritizes businesses most impacted by the pandemic including restaurants and taverns.

COVID-19 Cultural Organization Grant Program:

  • This grant application period has closed.
  • This $15 million grant program assisted cultural organizations whose operations have been negatively affected by COVID-19.

Joint Effort Marketing (JEM) Grant Program

The Joint Effort Marketing Grant Program offers funding and guidance to make a promotion or event come to fruition. The grant reimburses Wisconsin non-profit organizations for qualified advertising costs.  There are five unique categories of JEM grant to fit an organization’s needs.

The Tourist Information Center (TIC) Grant Program is open to non-profit tourism organizations, municipalities or Native American tribes who operate a regional tourist information center.

The Meetings Mean Business (MMB) Grant Program helps potential Wisconsin destinations by providing financial assistance for facility costs or host destination expenses as they bid for regional and national meetings or conventions.
