Travel Wisconsin And Wisconsin State Parks Team Up to Install 40 Additional Selfie Stands This Summer

Posted on: 5/25/2018

MADISON, Wis. – State parks visitors are posting and Travel Wisconsin is listening. Due to the positive response to the 10 selfie stands installed last fall, Travel Wisconsin and Wisconsin State Parks are again teaming up to install 40 additional selfie stands in state parks, trails, forests and recreation areas this summer. The first 20 have been delivered and a number of these have been installed in time to snap photos over Memorial Day weekend. The other 20 will be added in July.

The first 10 signs have received positive feedback from park visitors with posts and comments on social media. The initiative also received a “Paragon Award of Excellence” from the PRSA Southeastern Wisconsin chapter.

"We are excited to build on the success of the original 10 selfie stands. After all, who doesn’t love to take a good selfie? We are thrilled to provide even more Wisconsin State Park visitors an easy opportunity to snap a photo and share the beauty of our state parks,” said Tourism Secretary Stephanie Klett.

The stands are designed with smartphones in mind with platforms ready to hold any size or style of mobile device, allowing visitors to safely snap that coveted group photo in front of one of the park’s most popular views. The custom-built signs instruct users how to set their smartphones on a shelf, which swivels from left to right 180 degrees and tilts upward 90 degrees, allowing users to create customizable angles to capture the best image.

"These stands are the perfect way for our visitors to share their memories enjoying Wisconsin’s summer scenery with friends, family and other fans of the Wisconsin State Park System,” said Wisconsin State Park System Director Ben Bergey. “These selfie stands have proven to fit seamlessly into our state parks and we are excited to bring 40 more to the great outdoors."

The newest selfie stands can be found at the following parks. Visitors are encouraged to share their photo using #ScenicWisconsin or upload on TravelWisconsin.com.
