Department Field Specialists

All you need do is contact the field specialist for your area, ask for assistance and they'll be there.

We've added a fourth field specialist to our team, giving you more face time with the person assigned to your area by virtue of making each territory smaller. Remember, these field specialists are also your direct line of communication to staff in the Department's Madison office.

They’re pros at these tasks:

  • Helping loop you in to Department programs aimed at growing tourism in the state, like co-op advertising, tourism grants, the Travel Green Wisconsin certification program, among others
  • Working with communities, through a three-step process, to assess the role of tourism in their area, with an eye towards what’s possible and what’s needed:

            - Inventory tourism resources
            - Evaluate the market
            - Create a tourism development strategy

  • Speaking to Chambers of Commerce, Convention & Visitor Bureaus and tourism organizations about Department programs
  • Sharing best industry practices regarding the development of tourism programs and promotions
  • Will help you identify grant and funding opportunities for both public and private tourism development programs
  • Will help you link up with resources to expand your business
  • Serving as your link to other state agencies, such as the Department of Natural Resources, the Department of Transportation, the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority, the University of Wisconsin-Extension, the Department of Agriculture, and others
  • Serving as your link to federal agencies whose work influences tourism, such as the National Park Service, the US Forest Service, United States Travel and Tourism Administration, the Economic Development Administration, and others

How may we be of assistance? To find out which of our field staff is there to help in your county or region, please see this map.
